Petition for Mattel to Ship Overseas

It is simply unfair that a large company such as Mattel won’t ship overseas from its barbiecollector.com online store. It is really unfair that those interested in buying Mattel’s Barbie Collector products must first find a shipping buddy, pay for postage within the North American continent and then pay additional postage for the same items to be posted overseas. The other choice is to wait for these products to appear on the secondary market such as eBay with grossly inflated marked up prices.

Apparently, this is Mattel’s reasoning,

Can I have an order shipped outside the U.S.?
No, orders can be shipped within the U.S., its territories, and Canada only. If you have a friend or family member in the U.S. who can receive shipments for you, we can accept international billing, but the ship-to address must be within the U.S., its territories, and Canada only. Restriction on international shipments is not a Mattel-specific issue. Many companies do not ship internationally due to complex business issues surrounding currency conversion, international shipping regulations and restrictions, cost, and systems issues.

Last I checked… Canada was also a different country with their own different currency from the USA…

If an individual such as eBay sellers can ship overseas, why can’t Mattel? Many other companies DO ship internationally, even Integrity Toys are able to ship overseas. It seems as though many other companies have found solutions to the terribly “complex business issues” of shipping overseas…

If you wish for Mattel to ship overseas, please post a comment below. Anyone anywhere in the world is welcome to sign 🙂

Seems they want your money (will take international orders) but don’t care about the customer service!!! This is IMMORAL.

Surely our money is as good as anyone else’s. All Mattel has to do is lift the restriction on international shipping and watch the money roll in. Customers happy, Mattel happy. Simple.

It is very strange to me that a company like Mattel who have a history of marketing genius have failed to recongise the HUGE overseas market they are missing out on.
I’m sure the extra profits Mattel would make would surely outway the ‘business issues’ or expences. why else would most other US companies ship overseas of there wasn’t profit out waying the expences.
Come on Mattel… we want to spend money, let us spend it direct to you!!

Mattel do ship overseas when they choose – every attendee at the 2008 NBDCC in Kansas City received a doll (a very LARGE doll – Vera Wang Bride!) via airmail, regardless of where they lived in the world. So if they can do it on one-off shipments I don’t see why they can’t reconfigure the shipping dept to do it all the time. There are no currency issues if you require payment via Visa – the individual’s bank handles the conversion charges. As someone who has lived in Canada and had deliveries from BC, I can tell you they are quite clear and stringent about full value of dolls being declared on customs forms, and that any import duties are the resonsibility of the purchaser. Shipping is also consierably higher, but as our current alternative is to pay two shipping charges, it has to be more cost-effective to pay higher post from Mattel itself.

I think shipping BarbieCollectibles overseas would be a plus for Mattel and Barbie collectors both in the U.S. and overseas.

Given there are countries that do not accept mail from the U.S. or whose postal systems are deemed unreliable – that is my understanding of part of the international shipping problem(s). Could there be “receiver” postal stations overseas in countries that have reliable postal service and that have no embargoes against U.S. shipments? That might reduce the Mattel liability in areas where the company could not guarantee successful shipment.

Here’s to making Mattel dolls available where they can be received overseas as well as at home.

  6. I agree it’s totally unfair I’m in the canary islands which is part of Spain but is often left out regarding shipping on most websites including mattel. Only a certain amount of collector Barbies ever reach the toy shops here and when they do they keep them there until they sell and don’t replenish stock so dolls are left on the shelf for ages and hardly ever reduced.

My understanding is that the shops here don’t like to buy them in for fear of unwanted stock so being able to buy online is a much better option. It would also be nice to have a catalog, no toy shos here have them and they never seem to know what dolls are going to be coming in stock so it’s impossible to pre-order anything.

If mattel can’t do it through the USA site then maybe they should make bcollector Europe, Australia and so on in divisions.that way they can charge in the necessary currency and still offer current dolls.

Oh you made me rant lol but I think it’s so unfair that lot’s of collectors are being left out! Let’s hope your petition makes a difference

Yeah, give us the dolls we want to buy and stop unloading that princess trash on the foreign market that collectors don’t want and families can’t afford to buy anymore because they are soooo overpriced.

Its not fair that they ship to Canada but not Mexico, we’re as close to the USA as Canada is. Not fair to us collector from all over the world to go to bc.com and just look at their wonderful sales but not being able to take advantage of them. I mean, if its bout currencies, credit/debit cards charge you in the right currency not local.
Hope theyll listen to us from overseas.

I don’t think it is right that BC won’t ship overseas. There are so many collectors all over the world who would like the opportunity to buy dolls and they can’t. It’s time for that to change.

I never understand why a global company like Mattel don´t ship to Europe or other places around the world. Some other companys do it and it works very well!!
I come from Germany and we have a lot of collectors here. But we don´t have any good collector dolls in the stores (exept for Heidi and some anniversary dolls this year).
It would also be also very helpful if we had bcollector.europe here!!

  15. Panya from Thailand says:

Yeah! Mattel should consider to ship the dolls overseas. It is sad if we really want that doll but we know no one who live in USA? That is kind of sad.

  16. Lubo from Slovakia says:

It is shame that Mattel don´t ship dolls to Europe, Australia and Asia. And also their selection of dolls for your country is terrible, we have only Scotland, France a Golden anniversary blonde from collector dolls and no Fashionistas dolls.
We European collectors want more collector dolls and shipping from bc.com!

I think you can set up a mailbox address in US and have Mattel barbies sent there and then once a month they ship to you in AUstralia. I am having a friend who is living in the US check this out for me so will let you know. I agree, we seem to get such a limited supply here in AUstralia, and they have just cancelled the Christian Louboutin for the Australian market which I was really hoping to get

  21. Stacey says:

    I definitely agree with this!

I am trying so desperately to get my daughter a whole bunch of stuff, but the shops tend to sell very little by way of variety.

The best I can do is get items on eBay, but then the sellers up the price by so much, that I’ll be spending about $60 (incl shipping) just for a single, basic doll.

Here we are nearly 4 years on and nothing has changed! Mattel are big enough, and arrogant enough to not want our money. Integrity make it easy to shop, so they are the first stop for online doll purchases these days.
