Announcing the 14th National ABC Doll Club Convention for 2011 to all members.
This event is hosted by the members of Queensland ABC Doll Club.
Welcome to Monaco,
the year is 1952...
...This is High Society.
Bonjour! Whether you did or didn't attend the recent fabulous 50th celebration Melbourne
convention in May this year to see the release announcement and sneak preview, or heard the
rumours, this is the introduction to the information for your next convention.
You are invited to take part in this exciting event that Queensland will host. Did you miss out on getting
to the Melbourne celebrations? Want to go this time? We've got lots to tempt you with! Price to attend will be available
in the next newsletter, giving options of all the inclusions
& add-ons, so you know what you get in your fee and what options you may choose to not partake of, together with the...
PLATINUM PACKAGE registration period has ended!.
Remember to register AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so you don't miss out!
Start saving all your lavender legal tender now; because that's the theme colour,
lavender. Then together with platinum, you have a very feminine, very chic,
very High Society!
Our theme shades of lavender & platinum whisper... of a bygone era full of late night parties with
verve, glamorous art viewings, music with pizzazz, and stacks of casino chips.
We will magically transport you (and Barbie) to the tiny principality of Monaco as the setting for this lavish affair!
And the year will be a very vintage 1952. A fashionable time of flowing frocks, drinks at sunset & chivalrous gentlemen.
Oo, oui oui, s'il vous plait!
A Monaco en 1952, il y avait une belle fille appelee Barbie, qui a aime des toges du soir, un art, et de magnifiques
partis.
Some of the fun to look forward to and reasons to make sure you are on that conventioneer list are
wonderful events planned right from your arrival! We begin at cocktail hour on the
Friday evening at sunset, when you and Barbie will have a high time at the event named,

No prizes for guessing what you need to attend this. They can be as seductive or sensible as you wish,
but you will need silver shoes on!
Whether your tres chic boutique is Op Shoppe or Jimmy Choo, start looking now, they will be harder to find than
you think!
There is an
ongoing forum thread of members' challenges and champions, highs & lows,
the demure or daring acquisitions - the searching & finding of everyone's very lovely,
special silver shoes!
Give a woman a pair of shoes and she will conquer the world!
A word of warning though: shoes are like men...the ones you fall in love with are not necessarily the ones you can
live with! ... but lucky for you, this soiree is a short affair you need only surrender to for one night!
The next surprise we hope you will embrace and prepare for, is the day dressup competition.
As we have enjoyed Barbie outfits as a special dress up for our night programme in the past,
we're introducing a 2 level competition for Saturday! And a slight twist on the Saturday night attire!
Then a relaxed Sunday lounge wear competition ( in other words, your High Society trakkie daks!)
but don't forget the bling, the bag, & the Balenciaga darling!
There's a nostalgic feel to our whole weekend convention.
And speaking of the dinner on Saturday night...
this is the very glamorous highlight of the convention...

With a vintage flavour, a Monte Carlo casino feel, and a twist of top echelon glamour.
Fluff up your fur, take the diamonds from the safe, updo a French roll, dress in flowing swathes of lavender & platinum gossamer. Gentlemen are encouraged to pack a bow tie - you will be sensational!
A French accent will get you everywhere, as well!
By day, you'll be a part of High Society taking high tea, donning your favourite Barbie or Ken
outfit
or genuine vintage frock or suit. By night, you'll be whisked into the Monte Carlo casino, cocktail in hand and casino
chips counted. Brush up on your French! Plan your platinum ball gown!!!
Tres bombshell! Viva la Diva!
There are various competitions and there are dolls to be won!
Then, for the first time ever at an Australian Convention, we will hold an optional breakfast on the Monday
morning as the close of the convention.
We understand that some delegates will not be able to attend having to return home Sunday evening,
however, this is an experimental idea and small numbers are anticipated. Therefore as we hope to see what interest
there is in doing this at least once, we will have a very limited, very special doll release, as a top shelf purchase
available only by being at the breakfast. The event is

This convention will be a show stopper and not one to miss out on. More surprises are in store during
the weekend that we can't wait to tell you about!!!
Then if you need more reasons to holiday on the Gold Coast after convention, look forward to setting aside
an afternoon at Marina Mirage's Chocolate Restaurant, ooh, la, la !!!
Or take the family on the Aquaduck the only tourist road bus that drives from the road straight into the
broadwater for a boat cruise!!
Or shop in the $50 million refurb at Robina Town Centre, how sensational!!!
You've just got to be there! Barbie will be. High heels, high gloss, and High Society !!!
Further announcements will be revealed in the next newsletter.
Also look at the ABC Doll Forum for convention chat
and to post feedback.
Convention contacts for the various areas of expertise will soon be available if there are any questions.
Please note that the Breakfast Event Doll is now SOLD OUT! (01 July 2010)

And a note to our most important traders! Also members who plan to attend convention and also be a sales
trader. If you plan to be selling from sales room we need to hear from you. Sales room will have a special twist to it so
you may choose just to trade & not be a delegate. It is anticipated that a special newsletter will be made available to the
traders separately from the club info.
We have some traders contacts from Melbourne convention, however it would be helpful if we heard from
everyone (again) from any state, who is planning on trading.
It's anticipated that even if your ideas then change, you may want to know the plans whether you do or don't choose to
trade.
Please email with subject line: 2011 TRADER.
In the email, please include your name, together with a ballpark idea of how many tables you may
require together with:
Either a cubic size you know you usually pack, or number of cartons & giving an average of dimensions length x breadth
x height.
Clarify what you are advising please.
Information for freight of your goods to & from convention is being investigated as an option by our trucking company,
so we may need your input to ascertain weight & cubic sizes.
For the purpose of collating traders in one place, please use the email address:
jack.lives.here@live.com.au as soon as you are able if
you are considering trading.
